first teachers at the upcoming EGG in Brno

We are happy to start announcing teachers at the Brno EGG.
The first triplet is (more to come, stay tuned):

1. semantics: Elizabeth Tobyn (Masaryk University Brno)

2. syntax: Maura Cotfas (University Bucharest)

3. phonology: Mohamed Lahrouchi (Université Paris 8)

All announced teachers have confirmed their commitment to teaching at the summer school. Funding discussions are currently ongoing, and we expect to have greater clarity in due time. We are actively working to secure  the resources needed to support travel and accommodation for the teaching team; final participation will depend on the outcome of these efforts. Where possible, teachers are seeking complementary support through their home institutions.

EGG 2026 in Brno!

In 2026, the EGG will be held in the wonderful city of Brno (Czech Republic).

The school will take place from July 27th to August 7th.

Stay tuned: Teachers and classes will come in progressively here.

Farewell party at Jarunsko jezero

On Friday from 18:00 (but feel free to come earlier), we will be meeting up for a farewell party at Jarunsko jezero, the lake near the dorms.

There are plenty of bars that allow you to take drinks to the beach (which is rocky, so it is advised to bring good footwear for water if you want to swim!), as well as a pizza place nearby.

Check-out of dorms

To check-out, please bring your keys to the tourist office in pavilion 12 or, if unattended, to the reception in building 10.

If you leave on Friday evening, please make sure to check-out on Friday morning or latest by lunch. You can leave your luggage in room A105 or A107 upstairs (they won’t be locked, though, so make sure to carry your valuables on you).

If you leave on Saturday very early in the morning: We were told that there should be someone at one of those desks.

How to leave the room: Please take off the bedsheets and put them and the towels together on a pile. Make sure that the fridge is empty and don’t leave a huge mess 🙂

If you plan to leave after Saturday, please contact us directly (on whatsapp of via email), because we have to provide a list of names and departure dates to the dorm people.

Open Podium week 2

A message from the Open Podium organisers:

Hello Everyone,

Here’s some info regarding the open podium.

The podium will be held on Wednesday and Thursday next week between 17:00 and 18:15.

To present you will need to send an abstract to Freya at freayey2018@gmail.com. 1/2 page is enough, optional bibliography (it does not need to be super formal). Send us also your name and where you study.

The talks will be 10 minutes long with 5 minutes for questions. This may be extended or shortened slightly depending on how many presenters we have.

Send us the abstracts by Monday before 17:00 and any slides or handouts you want projected by Tuesday 17:00.

Any printed material will be at your own cost.
