The structure of DP, with special reference to Hungarian
This mid-to-advanced level course looks at the functional structure of the
extended noun phrase. The course covers the following topics in detail: i)
the hierarchy of functional projections in DP, ii) possessive noun
phrases, iii) noun phrases within PPs, iv) relative clauses.
The examples that will form the basis of the discussion will come from
various languages. Examples that will be analyzed in detail will often
(but not exclusively) come from Hungarian, but the major purpose of the
course is to discover the shape of the noun phrase provided by UG, and no
previous knowledge of (the) Hungarian (data) is necessary for this course.
